From Kaiserstuhl to the world – success for decades on the market
RILIT Coatings GmbH is a real success story. Founded in 1959 by Richard Litterst as a specialist store for paints and accessories in the small town of Endingen on the edge of the Kaiserstuhl, the business was driven forward by Walter Ermisch to become a globally active company. The company is now run by son Stefan Ermisch and nephew Georg König. Many employees are part of the family. So we are a family business in the best sense of the word.
In the mid-1990s, the company also began developing and producing heat-sealing lacquers for the packaging industry. In 2000, ekp coatings GmbH was founded as a separate company for this line of business. The further development of high-performance sealing lacquers and primers has been an important part of our company ever since. At the beginning of 2022, ekp coatings GmbH and RILIT Lackfabrik GmbH merged to form RIILT Coatings GmbH. This step ensures greater efficiency and simpler and clearer structures for our customers and suppliers.
1959
Walter Ermisch founded Rilit Lackfabrik GmbH, which emerged from the former paint wholesaler Richard Litterst. In addition to trading, efforts were directed specifically towards setting up an own production.
1984
Today’s coatings factory is built from scratch in the industrial area.
1995
Development, production, and marketing of heat-seal coats commences at Rilit Lackfabrik GmbH.
1998
Production and environmental protection capacities are modernised and expanded. DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management and DIN EN ISO 14001 environmental management are introduced.
2000
EKP Verpackungslacke GmbH is set up, specialising in the development and sales of products for the packaging industry.
2008
New production building with 40% more production area; more jobs are created.
2010
Production is boosted with custom solutions on niche markets.
2017
EKP Verpackungslacke GmbH is renamed ekp coatings GmbH.
2019
Anniversary: Rilit Lackfabrik GmbH turns 60.
2022
Rilit Lackfabrik GmbH and ekp coatings GmbH merge and are renamed RILIT Coatings GmbH.

Our roots and our region are very important to us, so it is natural for us to be involved here too.
We support numerous local associations. Particular attention is paid to the youth sections of the sports clubs. We sponsor the jerseys of the SV Endingen F youth team.
Because good cooperation here on site is important for all of us!
